The next version of Android nicknamed "Ice Cream Sandwich" has been long-awaited by many even though not much is known of it's internals.  Today some photos have finally been released.  Check them out below.

Apple to announce iPhone 5 on September 7th

It is being reported that Apple will be holding a media event on September 7th to announce a new product.  Since Apple usually uses its March/April, June, and September events to reveal its new models it makes sense that the next gen iPhone will be unveiled.  The September event is usually used for iPod announcements but this year it seems to be double the goodness.

Facebook "Messenger" for Android released

Facebook has released a new standalone application built solely for messenging contacts through the social network.  The app supports location data, group chats and transcript archiving.  Naturally, Messenger automatically imports your Facebook address book for contacting friends through SMS as well as regular chat.
Facebook’s native Android app is pretty horrendous, so Messenger should ease the mobile experience for users who are just trying to chat.

Apple is now the most valuable company in the world.

While most companies have been getting trashed in the stock market, Apple remains stable: in fact, it’s now ranked as the most valuable company in the whole wide world.  According to analysts, Apple’s market valuation reached $341.55 billion today, while the previous most valuable company, ExxonMobil, now ranks #2, currently valued at $341.42 billion.  This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Back in 2008, when markets were in turmoil, Apple took much less of a hit than other companies, including financial institutions.  The same strength was maintained throughout the recession, when while most companies of its size were shedding jobs and scaling back their investments, Apple was able to reach record earnings several times.  How important is this new figure?  There’s the possibility that just this number might cause a new wave of investment in the company, which should substantially drive up its stock price.  Before the 2008 market dip, Apple’s stock was valued at just under $180, yet it’s currently valued at over twice that amount, at nearly $366.  As we head towards a possible second dip, could Apple be one of the only safe investments?

Nexus phone to be launched with Android 4.0 in October

Google will be launching the first Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” powered devices this October, bringing their debut date right alongside theiPhone 5.  Android “Ice Cream Sandwich” was announced officially at Google I/O 2011.  Not much is known of the next version of Android, except that it will feature facial recognition, a “stunning” new UI and new APIs in an attempt to reduce the fragmentation problem that faces the Android platform.  It will combine Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” and Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” into one OS that will run on both smartphones and tablets.  The first device, which may be either a smartphone or a tablet, will be released in October to compete with Apple’s next-generation iPhone which is strongly expected to release either in September or October.

Samsung Hercules

The mysterious new Android based handset named Hercules has been causing quite a buzz since it was revealed in May.  While neither Samsung nor T-Mobile have not said anything about it, leaked pictures show that it is a slight variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II.

The picture above shows the "Galaxy S II" and "T-Mobile" logos printed on the back.  Expected changes include a larger, 4.5-inch display and support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ 42Mbps connection.  Much like the Galaxy S II it should include a dual core 1.2GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel camera and the ability to output 1080p video via a built-in HDMI port.

Android watch? Hmm...

This certainly isn't the first Android wristwatch to be released but it is the most expensive.  At 249 euro at their minimum and 14,999 euro on the higher end the "i'm watch" is no cheap wrist accessory.  It is also compatilbe with the Iphone 4, all Android device, Blackberry, and WIndows Phone 7.  The watch itself runs a customized version of Android 1.6.  The way the watch works is with a combination of alerts sent from your smartphone and the Android system running on the watch. iOS 5 Beta 6 on the way!

Beta 5 was released just a short while ago but sources for 9to5max are already sighting a release date for beta 6 as Wednesday, August 17th.  A few developers say that they have hacked the OTA update date code for iOS and deciphered the release date as a result.

iOS 5 Beta 5 Released

Developers have been given the gift of Beta 5 of Apple's much anticipated iOS 5.  The update includes various bug fixes and  a Hearing Aid Mode designed to improve compatibility between iOS devices and hearing aids.  It also includes a new speech recognition feature believed to be called Apple "Assistant," which will combine on-device and cloud processing to recognize natural-speech instructions and be able to use various data sources to present the best set of results.  This function has not been activated in the software yet as it is believed that Apple has not yet reached an agreement with Nuance.  Developers can download iOS 5 beta from the Apple Dev Center.  To see the full change log click here.

Download OS X Lion 10.7.2 Build 11C35 Beta

Today Apple seeded a new build of OS X Lion 10.7.2 to developers. Included is a new version of iCloud, Safari and a new build for Lion itself (11C35) which is needed for the change to iCloud from MobileMe.
If you want to update, first run reversioner and then install the updated seed without restarting your system. Only restart after installing the new build.

Changelog:

"This pre-release version of OS X Lion 10.7.2 is being provided solely for testing iCloud and updates the public release of OS X Lion and any earlier seed of OS X Lion 10.7.2. If you installed a previous seed of OS X Lion 10.7.2, please run the included reversioner package followed by the OS X Lion 10.7.2 update without restarting your system. You should restart your system after installing the OS X Lion 10.7.2 Update. (Mac Developer Program membership is required)"

How to install Google talk 1.3 with video chat on any Android phone.

Google recently added video and voice chat on their Google Talk app for Android. It is officially slated for use only on Android 2.3.4 but there is a way to get it on most phones running most phones running 2.3 “Gingerbread”. All credit goes to britoso from XDA-Developers and Redmondpie

How To Install Google Talk With Video/Voice Chat On Your Android Smartphone.

You will need a Android smartphone running Gingerbread. To confirm if you’re on Gingerbread, go to Settings > About, scroll down and you’ll see Android version under which you will see the version number. If it is 2.3 or 2.3.x, then it means you can install Gtalk 1.3.  Rooting is a necessary pre-requisite as well.

Before you start, I personally implore you to make a backup using ROM Manager and/or Titanium Backup. Although the guide is safe, anything can go wrong so be sure you have a backup!

Step 1: You must download a .zip file of Google Talk from here and copy it to the root of your phone’s SD card (i.e. the parent directory)

Step 2: Download and install ROM Manager [Market Link].

Step 3: Launch ROM Manager and tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and choose your device.This will install a custom recovery on your phone which you will be needing after a moment.Your phone will now reboot.

Step 4: After the automatic rebooting, launch ROM Manager once again and tap on Reboot Into Recovery.

Step 5: Your phone will now reboot into ClockworkMod recovery mode*. Using your phone’s volume up/down keys and the home button, scroll down to wipe cache partition > yes – wipe cache.  Similarly, navigate to advanced > wipe dalvik cache > yes – wipe dalvik cache. Go back to main menu using power/lock button.

Step 6: This is the most important step: scroll down to install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card > Gtalk_video_voice_XsMagical.zip. The hacked Gtalk app will now be flashed to your phone. After flashing, reboot system now.

Step 7: If you followed the guide correctly, you can now launch the Google Talk app from your phone, tap on your picture and enable video and voice chats to start video chatting with friends and family!

*If you can’t boot into CWM from ROM Manager, you can do it automatically by shutting down your phone and then restarting it by holding Volume Up+Home+Power.
